Strixa vs Omni Analytics
An honest capability comparison. No invented customer logos or fake benchmark scores.
Who is Omni Analytics?
Omni Analytics is a modern BI platform that combines a Workbook-style spreadsheet interface with a shared semantic model called the Shared Model. Omni connects to cloud warehouses and allows both technical users (who write SQL) and business users (who use the Workbook UI) to work from the same underlying model. Omni has raised significant venture funding and positions itself against Looker and Sigma for cloud-native teams.
Overlap
Where Strixa and Omni Analytics overlap
Both platforms cover some of the same ground. Here is what Strixa verifiably supports in this area.
- Both platforms center analytics on a formal shared semantic layer that defines dimensions and measures
- Both support interactive dashboards with chart-based visualizations
- Both connect to cloud data warehouses and run SQL queries
- Both offer some level of embedding or sharing capabilities
- Both support access control with role-based permissions
Differentiating angles
Where Strixa takes a different approach
- Strixa's semantic layer includes relationship declarations, multi-source model blending, same-table role-playing for self-join patterns, and row-level security rules applied at query time. Omni's Shared Model is powerful but differs in implementation approach and current feature set.
- Strixa is designed as a multi-tenant SaaS system with per-row tenant isolation from the database schema up. Omni is designed primarily for internal analytics teams with a single organization, not for ISVs serving many isolated customer tenants.
- Strixa's JWT embedding with customer_id RLS is a built-in, first-class capability for SaaS product embedding. Omni's embedding support is less mature for strict multi-tenant product scenarios.
- Strixa includes a document report surface: multi-page, paper-layout reports with headers, footers, and scheduled PDF email delivery. Omni focuses on Workbook and dashboard surfaces.
- Strixa bundles ETL pipelines for extract-based ingestion alongside the semantic layer. Omni is analytics-only and requires a separate data pipeline layer.
Evaluation checklist
Questions to ask during your evaluation
Use these when comparing any BI platform, including Strixa.
- How does the semantic layer handle row-level security in embedded scenarios with different customer data?
- Does the platform support a multi-tenant deployment where many separate organizations share infrastructure?
- What does the JWT embedding flow look like for a SaaS product with hundreds of customer tenants?
- Can the platform produce multi-page document reports for PDF export and scheduled email delivery?
- Does the platform include built-in ETL or alerts alongside the semantic layer?
- How does the model handle multiple physical tables or blended data sources?
- What is the cost model at scale for many embedded users?
